HAPPY EASTER!! Hope that all you had a terrific Easter weekend!
We were able to visit Amy and Greg and the boys for Easter. It was a wonderful visit, made even better by the fact that we are so much closer now geographically. The weather was beautiful for once and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Matthew and Allison went for their first plane ride (thank you to Uncle Greg and his pilot's license!)...Matthew thought it was terrific...Allie not so much, but it was a memory they will not soon forget.
School started back up today...nice to get back into the swing of things. 'Course life in the Haselhorst household never stops...Eric is recovering from what we think was a sinus infection ('course he didn't go to the doctor...what good would that do? Oy.). Kara's coughing has finally slowed down only to be greeted with a bad case of the runs (we think she's teething some molars). All of us are sniffling from some sort of bug (even the dog is). However, the weather is finally warming up and the potatoes are in the ground with other things soon to follow. Looking forward to the gardening!

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!
Well, the official decision from the doctor's office was RSV for Kara. She narrowly missed being admitted to the hospital only because her level of activity remained high. The doctor was comfortable with us taking her home and administering medications. Kara was a true trooper and although she is still struggling with terrible coughing, she is recovering. We've been told to expect long-term lung issues with her due to the fact that this is her second bout of RSV and also because she had it so early in life (at 10 weeks). Yippee. Oh, well. At least we know what to look for.
We are officially on spring break. And of course, the weather is decidedly UN-spring-like. So the kids are cooped up in the house...they are doing well considering the circumstances. We are all looking forward to warmer weather. Our garden is ready for planting and I've got plants on order to start making our yard our home. The potatoes are ready to go in to...(too wet and cold to do it today, although technically, you're supposed plant them today!).
Eric's FPU classes are beginning to wind down. Will be done in April. It's been a great class: lots of debt paid off and good words coming from everyone. As much as Eric enjoys this class, I think he's ready to have his Sunday evenings back! :)
Even though sickness has plagued our house (Kara's RSV, my cold/allergies, Matthew's cold/allergies, Eric's and Allie's colds), we've been really busy each weekend. Engaged Encounter a week ago, then to Garden City this past Saturday to see Uncle Will play percussion instruments at a dress rehearsal, Mom singing in the Messiah at Windthorst yesterday (that went well), Chrism Mass last Thursday (got to visit with several people we knew throught the Diocese...that was really nice), birthday party in Ness City for a close friend (Happy Birthday, Loren!), FPU, etc. The list goes on. Life in the Haselhorst household is never boring, that's for sure.

One day the temp is close to 80 degrees and then the next day or is some cases the same day is drops to 30's. I am soo ready for spring and warmer weather. It amazes me how, even when feeling terrible, kids can still be happy and can show off how smart they are! Kara is very sick today...fast breathing, fever, cough, runny nose (very RSV-ish..has dr. appt. this afternoon). But, while lounging on my bed with her sister, she decided to remove her socks and shoes. She immediately started counting her toes and she got them all right! 'Course, Allie had to join in to show me how FAST she could count..ha!

75 degrees yesterday (but really windy) and now there is a wind chill of 28 and they are calling for snow this evening (still really, really windy)...that's living in KS for you. Ugh. I am soooo ready for spring...
We were able to go to Great Bend this past weekend for an extended visit. We haven't done that in a really long time and it felt good to not be rushing through town as we usually do. I worked Friday and Saturday morning, Eric visited friends, stopped by the school/church, and hung out with the kids. Kids got to go to a friends house Friday afternoon into the evening (their friends' mom went in to labor after we left and had their baby, Joselyn Kaye: 8 lbs, 1 oz, 19 1/2 inches long at 5:09pm on Sat....congrats, Michelle, John, A.J. and Johnelle!). Saturday, we spent the afternoon visiting some friends, attended church, and went to the hospital to see the newest member of our circle of friends (see pics on front page!). Eric and I had a night out after that on our own with friends and had a GREAT time! It was kinda hard to leave last night...we both felt so good after visiting with so many people that we know and love.
Allie seems to have come down with some sort of ear infection/earache (we aren't sure). May head to the dr's ofc tomorrow if she doesn't improve.
We are gearing up for the Easter holiday. I'm participating in the Holy Thursday bilingual Mass as well as a community choir sing of the Messiah on Palm Sunday, so I've been busy with practices all over the place. We've made our final travel plans for our yearly trip to Bowie to visit Amy and Greg and the boys...looking forward to that trip: it's been awhile since we've been there.
Well, I'd better sign off. Since I've unpacked from the weekend, it's become abundantly clear that we need some laundry done...fun, fun. So I'd better at least get piles started. Have a great week!Comments:Add a comment:
