Well, it's been awhile since we've had an update so here goes: the bug that got Kara, Allison and I caught up with Eric and Matthew by the next weekend. Nausea with stuff coming out both ends (ugh)...not much fevers. Did find out that none of us had the flu, just some stomach bug. However the flu DID hit Matthew last Friday. He got sent home from school with a fever, had it all weekend, seemed better on Monday, but after another spike Tuesday morning and a trip to the doctor, he tested positive for influenza (I don't know what type) and has been home all week ever since. The rest of us are fighting some sort of cold but nothing major. We are all really looking forward to getting over this stuff. 'Course we are keeping Lysol and Kleenex in business this year as well as pharmacies. Geesch.
More progress on the kitchen! Although we've been sidetracked by sickness, we have found some windows of opportunity and finished some things. Eric and his dad began laying the floor about 2 weeks ago and after his dad left, I helped finish it. We could have had it done in one day but we were 2 pieces SHORT!! So had to wait until the following Monday to go back to the store to get more flooring. All that's left now is floor trim, trim around the doors and some minor painting. The bathroom still needs put back together (although Eric started putting in the new sink yesterday while he stayed home with Matthew). We missed Eric's deadline of the first week of February, but we aren't far from finishing.
Eric traveled to Nashville, TN last week to become a certified work place financial trainer for Financial Peace University (Dave Ramsey). He had a great time, got to meet Dave Ramsey, came home with some cool stuff and is ready to go convince corporate America they need him to train their employees! Ha! Don't worry, we aren't leaving GB...this is something he will do outside of work. It's not quite lucrative enough to warrant doing it full-time, but it could help to pay off some more bills! Wish him luck! He was gone from last Tuesday evening until about 3 am Sunday morning. Came home to sick kids and brought home a cold himself...but was glad to finally be home.
We hope that everyone had a great Valentine's Day and that all you grandparents and siblings of Mommy and Daddy got our Valentine cards! The kids were very proud of their signatures....
On a side note: didn't want to forget that Grandma Donna's birthday just recently passed. I think she's up with all them church ladies in the sky making up one whopper of a church dinner for everyone! Ha! Happy Birthday, Grandma...we miss you.Comments:Add a comment:
