Hello Everyone! The season of Christmas is upon us and for once, I'm sooo organized! Shopping is almost finished for the first time in a long time, I'm able to actually enjoy the Christmas season. Thanksgiving was a nice one: we went to Great Bend to visit Eric's family. Came home on Saturday only for me to make a made dash BACK to Great Bend on Sunday to cantor for the 8:30 Mass at St. Pats! Was able to visit with some friends (thanks for brunch, Leonard, Brenda and girls!) and stopped by to pick up the things we left at Eric's parents house from the day before.
School and schedules are back in swing after the short Thanksgiving break. Now starts all the planning, the cooking, the wrapping, concerts, and parties that happen when you have school-aged children. We are looking forward to going to Topeka to visit my family at Christmas time...lots of birthdays to celebrate, too, on both sides of the family. So December is hitting hard but we are excited. Matthew has his first basketball game next weekend (looks like family is splitting up again...me and the girls to a birthday party, Eric and Matthew to his game). He's pretty jazzed about the game...
Anyway, hope everyone's December is full of joy, peace, and lots of laughter. Peace to all of you!Comments:Add a comment:

We had a quiet day today for Allison's birthday...Eric was gone on a business trip and won't be back until tomorrow, so we will celebrate tomorrow by taking the kids to see the Bee Movie. But, the three kids and I did take in a model train show today and a craft fair (Christmas shopping!). Allison chose McDonalds for her birthday lunch (yummy...ugh) so we brought McDonalds back to the house and had a picnic outside. Been pretty quiet since then.
Thank you to all of you who remembered both Allison's birthday and Kara's birthday! We appreciate it so much!!
Have a blessed weekend!Comments:Add a comment:

We have a name for Mike and Lindsay's little girl: Katherine Ann...isn't that pretty? Eric was able to visit them at the hospital in Wichita last night on his way to a stewardship conference in Missouri. He said she's just too precious and anyone will fall in love with her immediately. Lots of dark hair and a cute little face behind all of that NICU stuff she's hooked up to. I get to meet her on Saturday (hopefully...Christmas shopping time!). Anyway, we couldn't be happier for them. We know in our hearts that Katherine's big brother held her hand from heaven the whole way...he's got to be so proud! Again, congrats, guys!!
On another baby note: Some other friends of ours (Michelle and John) are expecting their 3rd child...due in March. I can't remember if I put that out here or not, but we are excited for them as well!
Children everywhere...our get-togethers just got noisier!! God is good!Comments:Add a comment:

We have good news to report!!! Our friends, Mike and Lindsay, welcomed their 2nd child this morning around 7 am...Little Miss was 5 pounds, 3 ounces. She's currently in the NICU working on her lung pressures but is doing well. No name yet but that will come soon, I'm sure. Lindsay is reportedly doing well, although is currently on tons of medications to keep things working right. It's been a long road and in a way, I wonder if Mike and Lindsay are happy that their little girl came early. I can just picture her older brother, John Benedict, looking down on her from Heaven, proud he could hold her hand and help her make it this far!! CONGRATULATIONS MIKE AND LINDSAY!! CAN'T WAIT TO MEET YOUR PRECIOUS LITTLE GIRL!!

Kara's birthday was today and we had a nice, quiet celebration for her. We gave her her own little cake and she spent the majority of the time carefully eating all of the frosting off of it! She received lots of cards in the mail (thank you everyone!) and a few gifts of clothing and gifts. She seems to really love her new nightgown from Mommy and Daddy (has worn it every night since then...Allison is now asking for one! Ha!). The play cell phone was a big hit (it will help her learn her own telephone number..it's pretty cool). Of course, birthday parties, no matter how quiet, still wear out little 2 year olds, so she crashed for a nap shortly afterwards!
The same weekend we were also invited to Great Bend for a friend's birthday (on Friday). It was so nice to see all of our friends again. We really miss having them around and we felt pretty melancholy coming home the next day.
October seemed to breeze past us with lightning speed. We couldn't seem to find blank spots in our calendar last month! Eric had a busy month for stewardship with lots of out of town meetings and the stewardship fair at our church. I had quite a bit going on with mom meetings, extra masses to sing at, and shuttling kids to and from Halloween events. Matthew dressed up as Anakin Skywalker from Star Wars, Allison did a reprise of Marie from Aristocats again, and Kara dressed up as a chicken. Trick-or-treating was fun but now begins the tedious process of getting rid of all that candy! Ugh!
Of course, now that November is here, there is Christmas shopping to pick up, 3 birthdays to have (Kara, Grandma Bev and Allie) and Thanksgiving to plan for. Looks like Thanksgiving will be with Eric's family this year (the kids and I went to Topeka last year by ourselves...Eric had to work).
Anyway, hope everyone is having a great fall! Enjoy the colors! It seems to be a perfect year for it!!!Comments:Add a comment:
