The countertop is finally installed in the kitchen! I'll get pictures taken and put on the website, but we may wait until more gets done. Oh, Eric also laid the floor in the hallway and bathroom and put up trim around the windows in the kitchen and 2 doors by the bathroom. Yea! The end is near! Eric's goal is to be finished by next weekend (Feb. 2)...keep your fingers crossed!
The flu bug hit our home this past weekend. Kara got sick on Sunday, I got sick on Tuesday, Allison on Wednesday. So far, Matthew and Eric have managed to avoid getting sick...let's hope they don't get it! It's no fun! What's funny is that it was Kara and Allison who got their flu shots this year....hmmmmm.....
Got a lot of snow last weekend....almost 8 inches. It's been really cold so it's all slow to melt, but it has been fun for the kids. It was really pretty. I got some pictures that I'll post soon, too. Looks like the dry spell is over. We'll see what the lawn and flowers do in the spring! Ha!
Well, stay warm, enjoy the wet weather and we hope to see any one of you soon!Comments:Add a comment:

Had Matthew's birthday party yesterday! We had a bowling party for him and all the boys in his 2nd grade class. The boys (and Allie) bowled for about an hour, made dry ice rootbeer, ate cake, helped Matthew open presents, played video games in the game room, and played a spontaneous game of nerf football. It was loud and chaotic, but everyone had fun!
Another surprise: Jason, Katie, and Hunter drove down from North Dakota and showed up on Saturday evening. They came to Matthew's party and we spent the evening with them out at Grandma and Grandpa's house last night. They are here until Thursday....
Kitchen update: we finally got to working on the kitchen again after the long holiday break we took. Most of the doors are now finished...just waiting for the paint to cure more before they get hung up. The paint job isn't so great (Chris really doesn't like the paint), but it looks OK and we may take some sandpaper to it to age it a bit. We'll see. Put the new light fixture up and rumor has it, the counter top should go in this week (Eric is supposed to call). Once the counter top is in, we can finish painting the backsplash and paint the bottom cabinets. Then the window and door trim will go in and be painted, doors will probably get a new coat of paint, and finally the floor will be put in. Also, the bathroom sink will be installed the toilet put back in it's proper place (instead of my front porch), and the cabinets in the bathroom will be repainted. A lot to do yet, but the end is beginning to become clear. We will keep you posted!
The last snowstorm moved out yesterday and once again, Great Bend seemed to have been missed for the most part. Most of what is on the ground is a small amount of snow and the left overs of the sleet that came down Saturday. It's slick and FREEZING COLD, but it's not bad. Should all be melted by Wednesday at least. Hate to say it, but we are disappointed we didn't get more snow! Ha! Maybe next time....
Well, stay warm, enjoy this week and dream of warm weather!

Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!
We've had a busy holiday season. I came down with a cold before Christmas and here, 2 weeks later, I've now got to fight bronchitis. Fun. But it hasn't stopped our visiting. The Myers family came up from Texas and we celebrated Christmas with them as well as Kaden's 2nd birthday and New Year's Eve with them. We had a great time and we were glad to be able to see them. Great Bend was missed by all of the major snow (twice in 2 weeks)....most of it went west of us both times. This second time, however, we did actually see some snow (about 2-3 inches). It drifted a bit with the big wind yesterday, but not terrible. Now we have bitter cold temperatures, but the sunshine makes it seem not so bad.
The kitchen took a back seat to the holidays. No work was done on it since before Christmas. We will get back to it this week. Hope to have it finished by February. I'm getting anxious to get the new countertop in. I'm ready to see the kitchen start coming together.
Some people to keep in your prayers: Great-Grandpa Neil got sick right before Christmas...he is better now, in rehab., and ready to come home, but he's got a little more healing to do. Grandpa Dennis is going to battle cancer again. Pray that a solution can be found to get rid of it again.
We've had a blessed 2006 and we look forward to seeing what 2007 brings for us. It's always good to start fresh and let's hope that we can all do that and head in to 2007 with love and optimism. Happy New Year everyone! May God bless you this New Year's Day!Comments:Add a comment:
