Well, Christmas visiting is over and boy are we bushed! The weekend of the 17th, we took our big trip to Topeka and Lawrance to visit Mommy's side of the family for Christmas. Despite the major snow storm, we got to see everyone (except Uncle Will) and we had an excellent time. Kara did well on her first big trip (Mommy was pretty nervous about it)....only a few meltdowns but it turned out she was just too hot and quite a bit tired. Matthew and Allison had a great time and kept everyone busy with their stories, rough-housing, and laughter.
When we got home, it was discovered that a wreck had occurred on our corner (no one was hurt). A truck had hit a minivan and shoved the van into our beautiful limestone wall that Eric had so painstakingly made when we first moved in here. It is pretty banged up (only a part of it can be salvaged). Eric was pretty ticked off about it, but in reality, the wall kept the van from heading to our house......Eric said that would have been better: we would have gotten the new front porch we wanted then! Ha!
Christmas weekend was spent at home (for the most part). The Myers family came up from Texas and we tried to spend as much time together as we could. Christmas Eve morning was spent travelling the 45 minutes north to Grandma Haselhorst's and later, to Aunt Pam and Uncle Kent's. Matthew had to sing in the children's choir at Christmas Mass in the evening...Mommy had to play in the bell choir. It was really beautiful. Christmas day was spent at home as is our tradition now, with the kids. They really enjoyed opening their gifts and seeing what Santa had left them. We a great time visiting with who we could.
Kaden (our nephew) has a birthday coming on the 29th, so we celebrated a bit for him on Christmas Eve. He got to open his birthday gifts before anyone could touch their Christmas presents and he looked just too cute....'course he was more interested in crawling as fast as he could to the stairs.....laughing all the way!
Mommy went back to work on the 19th....grrrr. But, in a way, it feels good to be back. Lots of changes occurring at the office; for the better, I might add. Things are going to be crazy there for awhile, but Mommy doesn't mind, believe me.
OH! And BIG milestone for Kara! She is holding her head up VERY well now (shocking everyone around her considering she will only be 8 weeks old tomorrow)! We are so proud of her....we are also blessed with coos and big grins now. I can't believe how fast they grow! It's been established that she is a night owl, just like Daddy, and it's nearly impossible to get her to bed at a decent time, no matter how early we start trying. Thanks, Daddy! Ha!
We are looking to have a quiet New Year's Eve and hope that all of you have a good one, too!Comments:Add a comment:
