Things are starting to quiet down (at least a little) around the Haselhorst household. Matthew''s football season has finished and Mommy''s practicing for the cabaret performance is over (''course, now she is practicing for a Christmas performance!). We''ve FINALLY gotten some sort of routine for school and homework is getting done. Dad and Mom are finally beginning discussions on painting the inside of the house this winter as well as some cosmetic issues the house has that we''d like to fix.
Allison had a birthday party yesterday with most of her friends here at the house. The day proved to be extremely beautiful so the entire party was out in the back yard (much to Mom''s relief). All the kids seemed to enjoy themselves completely, the sqeals from the pinata breaking were heart-warming. Allison collapsed in to bed at 8:00 last night, announcing how tired she was...it was a wonderful day. She celebrates her birthday today at school with the extra cupcakes mom made for the party...she went out of the house all smile this morning.
Kara surprised Mom this morning by recognizing her name...we used foam stickers and of course, Mom announced what the letters were in the beginning, but Kara remembered what they were on the paper (she repeatedly pointed out all of the letters: K---A---R---A). It was adorable! Then she picked up a pen and decided to "color" parts of her paper that had no stickers on it...looks like she''s going to be a lefty! :)
Matthew figured out to slow down during school last week and his grades showed it. Came home with a 100% on his religion test as well as spelling (spelling wasn''t a surprise...he''s extremely good at spelling). We discussed how to study last week and it seems to have paid off. After grades were slipping during football, we''ve taken a break from sports to learn better study habits, with the promise of baseball in the spring. You should have seen his face on Friday when he came home with all of those ''A''s...he looked like he''d just accomplished a 500 mile marathon. We are so proud of him.
Mom can''t take it anymore and will be decorating for Christmas this week (lights are up on the house already...we took advantage of a windless, warm day to get them up a couple of weeks ago). Matthew has been begging for the tree for 2 weeks now so I think we will get that done. Time to pull out all of the Christmas music!!
Well, hope all of you have a wonderful week. Enjoy today for tomorrow may sideline you.
