Summer has come and gone...Matthew was again part of the Dodge Cimmaron Swim team and they had an awesome season! I went to the National Pastoral Musicians conference in Louisville, KY and received my cantor certification while I was there. YAY! Also, I spent the majority of my summer working at Boot Hill Museum as "Miss Kitty" for the Long Branch Variety Show. The girls went with me to many, many rehearsals and I think we have some can-can dancers in the making! Ha!
School started in August and Kara is LOVING Kindergarten...she came home the other day, so excited to have her Book-It paper for October. They get a free pizza if they read 10 books in the month. Well...little Miss decided to get hers done and she spent an entire Friday evening reading several books, updating us on her progress after each one. She was so excited when she finished! Allison is doing very well in 3rd grade...she''s performed in two "mini" plays (one with her class in library and another with her class in the regular classroom.). She did excellent in each. Matthew has joined the football team...7th grade is keeping him busy, especially because of football. We found out from his coach the other day that Matthew is the most improved player on the team...made us proud! He''s already talking about basketball, though. Ha!
Eric seems to be beginning to travel more with his job which is very good...I am traveling with my job as well on occasion and am learning a lot about working the "other" side of college life. This job move was SUCH a good move! I am still doing the occasional "Miss Kitty" gig down at Boot Hill for birthday parties and/or bus tours. And Matthew and Eric are in full swing with popcorn sales for Boy Scouts (if you''d like some email me!).
I think that about catches us up...received about an inch and a half of rain this weekend...such welcome relief from the drought we are in. It doesn''t make the drought go away (we need about 14 more inches for that), but it was a nice reprieve and we will take what we can get! Garden did pretty decent despite the drought and the terribly high triple digit temperatures this summer.
Oh yes...a new kitty has graced the Haselhorst household. Seems to be fitting in well. The jury is still out on a name but have narrowed it down to Simon, Deets, Festus, or Salem (he''s a black cat and it seemed appropriate since it''s October).
Enjoy your fall!
